Elections open Records Requests

The Georgia Open Records Act and related subtitles of Georgia law authorize a personal inspection of public records at a reasonable time and place unless prohibited by a court order or otherwise exempted by law. However, no public official or personnel is required to prepare reports, summaries, or compilations not in existence at the time of an Open Records Request.

In many instances, there is no charge for obtaining public records. However, in situations that require staff to spend more than 15 minutes researching, retrieving, redacting (if necessary), and preparing files for pick up, there can be a fee associated with your request. Fees are based on the hourly rate of the lowest-paid employee capable of performing the work, minus the first 15 minutes.
